This one actually looks interesting. I hope that Netflix will carry this. It is not in their database.

I'd love to see it. Netflix is a great resource but it is maddening how they often don't have the very one you are looking for.

I'd like to see it too...

Did he actually start making films when he was 7?

I heard an interesting interview with the filmaker on the radio a while back.  Looking forward to seeing this on DVD.

The movie has present-day interviews with 5 or so of the kids, as well as some of the parents.

I own a copy of this DVD and I found it quite enjoyable. The participants in this documentary (sort of) were quite engaging and the way the whole thing was put together made it entertaining as well as interesting. I'd like to see more of this kind of movie since I think I learn a lot by seeing how different people spent their childhoods. You get a better idea of the great diversity and the variations in how people live and develop into adults. Hopefully, with all the video technology available now, there will be more of this kind of movie in the future.

I've seen it too, and I think it's quite fascinating to watch. I suspect that today's kids don't have as much freedom.

CAL WROTE: I suspect that today's kids don't have as much freedom.

As a general rule, I'd have to agree there, but the kids who shot the video footage that later was editted into the movie were definately exceptional. With the proliferation of video gadgets around today, there has got to be even more exceptions out there with good imaginations.
