This film is being released this week here in France.

Excellent production, co-starring a young boy actor named Samy Seghir.  Brown hair or blonde..... both get fair treatment from young Seghir in this one.

Thanks nicolas, this movie looks like a must see.

Everyone should check out the link to the trailer, there are several extracts from the movie that can be watched.

Hopefully the two big names involved will be enough to get the movie a wider distribution than just Europe.

Well, this afternoon was finally the day to see this one.  A wet and drizzly day, perfect.

After joining up with a fellow member from the BA forum, we cued up and actually got tickets.  We proceeded up the dark stairway into the Olympia Theatre here in Cannes to see the film, but we knew we'd have to wait for a trailer or two of advertisements before seeing what we'd come for.

Imagine our surprise, when the first scene on the screen was a loin-cloth clad youngster of about nine, getting ready for training in hand-to-hand combat.  (That is indeed an understatement).  We watched with fascination this captivating, yet slightly gruesome spectacle being narrated before our eyes.

Then came the slight problem.  After about ten minutes, the narration stopped, and the film began!  And it wasn't what we'd come to see, ("Michou D'Auber").  What we were actually viewing was the first part of a new picture called "300".  No complaints at all, because it was worth viewing the start (and perhaps one day the remainder) of this particular motion picture.  The young boy seems to have quite a bit of screen time at the start of "300".

Nevertheless, when the reality set in that we had indeed walked into the wrong room in the theatre, we scurried out into the corridor and found the correct place where "Michou D'Auber" had already started.

It's not a remarkable film at all, but it is definitely worth a look.  The likelihood of being completely disappointed is very minimal, and there are some very entertaining scenarios in the course of this film.  The story is a bit generic, and as with all Depardieu films there are the old ladies who come to the theatre for the mere purpose of laughing at every stupid thing the ever-popular actor says and does on screen.

Some might find "Michou D'Auber" to be a bit too dramatic.... and will wish they'd also have walked into the "300" room by mistake.  But all-in-all our choice wasn't a bad one, and you'll see much of Samy Seghir in three different appearances of hair and hair-colour.  Incidentally, another boy actor of about 11 or 12 gets a fair amount of screen time as well, but his name has slipped from memory at this moment.

Personal rating, 8/10.......

(If the film "300" has perked any interest, there are pictures, including one of the youngster, in the photo gallery of the film's official website.  It takes a minute or two to download). Posted below, is a more distant shot.

I got to see this film recently too and, although I didn't understand everything that was said, it was pretty easy to get the meaning of what was happening.  Like Nicolas said, it was pretty good, but not extraordinary... but there was definitely a lot of screen time for the kids.  And while I found the primary child actor attractive enough, there was another more so...

Don't spend top dollar (or pound or euro or whatever) to see this film, but if it's rainy or you get a good deal, it's a good way to pass some time!
