Sorry I haven't been contributing lately. Many worries and distractions.

Here are 6 caps of Michel Ray from The Tin Star, a superior western even without Michel  Smiley

Thanks for the caps YA.
It's been a long while since I've seen this one.

Michel Ray was an interesting boy star of the 1950's. His biography suggests he would have made a perfect Harvey Cheyne had they filmed a version of Captains Courageous during that period.
It would probably be fair to say he is the wealthiest boy actor of all time.   Cool

I remember hearing that a young Getty was an actor... Lord of the Flies, if  I recall.  That would be a wealthy little actor too, albeit "the old fashioned way."

Thanks Young Arthur for some of the best caps of Michel Ray I've ever seen! Excellent caps from The Tin Star. He has always been one of my favorite boy actors. He was so very photogenic, I've never seen a bad picture of him. I wonder what he looks like now?

This is the only thing I could find K. I'm not sure when this portrait was done...

That's very interesting, Zabladowski. It appears to be a posed oil painting portrait. He does look the part of a wealthy businessman. Still handsome too. I wish he would write his autobiography. It would be fascinating.

I'm just curious Young Arthur: How did you get so many pictures into one message post? The pictures you posted don't seem to be in the Boy Actor's Database so I don't see how you linked to them.

Quantum recently set up for multiple images to be posted. This was the first time I tried it, so I am still hazy as to just how I got them up.  Wink
There is a new box just above the message space, and to the right - "Image Upload." It talks you thru the process. Looks a bit easier than the old system.

Ohhh, now I see it! I had no idea that function was there. As you said, that must be something new. Well, I must try it out to see if it will work for me. If it works well I will be able to use it when I have multiple picture posts.
Let me try posting several of Michel Ray to see if I can do it right:

Wow! Works amazingly well and very fast! Yes, it's a big improvement over the former method of multiple picture uploads here. Thanks, Quantum!

Here's one I'm sure has never been posted here before: Michel Ray in his last film -- 'Lawrence of Arabia'.

A wide screen monitor sure is a big advantage when viewing this forum.

Thanks YA and K for the excellent pics of Michel Rey. I think I saw this movie when I was a kid, so I remember very little about it. Definitely a priority to get a copy.

I quit grumbling about that since I started using the Opera browser. I click on VIEW and then check a box called FIT TO WIDTH which causes all pics and text to, well, fit my screen without scrolling back and forth. Opera is a free download.

Well now, I guess I better get me some Opera. I'm already using Windows Exploder, Mozilla Firefox and Avant Browser, so I guess it won't hurt to have another.

Except that a) Opera is not free, and b) you can do something similar in pretty much any browser.

In Firefox, just right-click on the image you want to see and select "view image" (the first option, generally). It automatically resizes to fit the screen. (At least on Firefox for Mac OSX. I assume it's more or less the same for PC.)

On a more general note, I think you just have to accept that technology advances and at some point it becomes the norm to post higher-resolution images. It sucks that those who can't afford to buy high-resolution monitors get left behind, but it also doesn't make sense to expect those who have that technology to keep posting small-res images just to please those who can't fit them in their screen.

There is just something special about this old film.

When Henry Fonda needed a place to sleep, he found a great place.

It would be nice to see this again on TCM.
