Ethan portrays a Welsh boy "Luca Maddox" (interestingly enough he is Welsh) in the American made medieval series "The Bastard Executioner" as an executioner's (read torturer/executioner) physically and mentally abused son (don't worry it lasts only one episode then the story changes) forced to help his father do the dirty work of that era's executioners.

Unfortunately the show got canceled after only one season but with a good ending. The reason to cancel the series was mainly poor rating.
In my opinion if they would show this series on HBO it would last for 5 seasons at least. The scenes were well prepared, acting was decent and in parts excellent and considering this was Ethan's first major role with no prior professional acting experience he did shine.

Also on top of all this Ethan has a younger brother who also acts in the series even though he is only in the first episode but it is good to know there will be two cuties in the future.

Poor ratings when the series stars a boy like Ethan Griffiths ... have they no taste? The only true critics of the Boy Film are here on BA, outside they obviously have no idea.    Wink Roll Eyes

I agree with you 100%. As I said if this series was on HBO it would last for a while. Here in the US network and cable channels are trying to make people think and feel like they (channels) are open to anything and ready to show different ... ummm.. how to put this in a delicate way and try not to offend anyone... sexual orientations or stuff that might be considered taboo.

However, general public is far from understanding and accepting those situations here in the good ol' US of A. Hence, series like TBX gets axed after a few episodes because people can't accept what it shows openly.

The same thing happened to another series called "The Riches" about 8 years ago. In that series (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

(back then at the age of 14) portrayed a 12 years old cross dresser boy and man that show got a lot of heat for that and ended up with poor ratings and eventually got axed. Back then I considered it as "people not being ready to see a 12 years old cross dresser" but what about now with all this "acceptance" going around all the time.

Now, if this series (TBX) was on HBO or any other premium channel things would be a little different since general public still expects to see certain scenes only on a premium channel.
Anyway, it was an interesting series and I'm glad I had the chance to watch it every week.
