So folks, what's the (admittedly rather loose) connection between....

silent movie star Wesley Barry (who is my current avatar)...

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

and modern boy starlet Haley Joel Osment?....

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

To find out, read the Biography for the actor Wesley Barry that I've just posted up...

If memory serves, the story A.I. was based on a story called, "Super Toys Last All Summer Long", that is according to Spielberg in the interview he did on the Special Features for the A.I. DVD!
Stanley Cubrick owned the movie rights to the story, but died before he could get it filmed, after his funeral, his wife approached Speilberg and asked him to make it!

But it is kind of eerie that the two stories are so similar!  Smiley

Great Biography for Wesley Barr!

I'll have to work on finding some of his films.

Can't wait to see The Creation of the Humanoids (1962)

Added to my queue

Indeed - I really should read that story. Right now, I only know Brian Aldiss from his magnificent The Hand-Reared Boy...

Yes, it looks interesting. It comes on a DVD with "War Between the Planets". I'm glad that all the reviews on amazon.com seem to praise Wesley's film, since they are quite withering about "War Between the Planets"!

The Hand-Reared Boy...

Yes, looks interesting! I'll see if it's available at the library, maybe on ACD.
If the title is any indictation, it might be about a boy being raise by a very devoted parent! I'm for sure gonna try to find a copy!

thanks for the heads up! Smiley

Well possibly...  Smiley but then there's also...

"I was introduced to the delights of masturbation early, and had never looked back since then. You might say I was a hand-reared boy." (p. 19)

The book includes some very detailed and candid descriptions of his mutual masturbation with other boys, as well as his sexual experiences with girls.
