I just watched Second Best. What a movie!

It starts out slowly. In fact the action is mostly slow, but the boy is beautiful, and the intergenerational love is powerful.

Yes, a definite must see for all I think Smiley
I discovered this movie by chance in my local video hire store a couple of years ago - I hadn't heard anything about it when it was released.
It's a shame Chris Cleary Miles doesn't seem to've done much else.

love,

The book is also worth reading.
See if your local library has a copy.

Is the author David Cook ?  I think I skimmed through it when it came out but never got around to reading it
or seeing the movie.  Reading you guys' comments makes me long to see it now:  I know I can rely on your
excellent taste.  I suppose it will come out on dvd eventually.

I read this book in library from school two years ago and I saw movie.  The movie is almost same as book in all the words they say except the boy wear underwear in movie when he run away and when hes in tent.
Movie made me sad when his dad die and then adopted dad see his dad die too.  I like movie and it was funny when the orphnage lady asked man if he could handle a ten year old boy and he said he don't think he could eat a whole one.  He is joking and lady didnt know right away.  The movie make me cry when his dad die and both were very sad.

I agree that this is a fine movie. It has some very moving scenes in it. William Hurt has never been better and Chris Cleary Miles was well cast. It's been a couple of years since I've watched it though... time to have another look I think  Smiley
