Last Friday I had the chance to see the latest remake of Das Fliegende Klassenzimmer, a German movie, after a story of Erich Kästner. The second remake, after the movie was first released in 1954 and then again in 1973.
The last few years some other movies, made after novels of Erich Kästner, had their remakes: like 'Pünktchen und Anton' (1953 and 1999) and 'Emil und die Detective' (1931, 1954 and 2001). Both are worth watching.
Das Fliegende Klassenzimmer is a story of friendship between 5 boys at a boarding school who are preparing for performing a play (das fliegende Klassenzimmer) at the last day before the christmas holidays. In between they get into all kinds of adventures and troubles, but in the end everything turns out fine.
I have to admit that I've never seen the first two movies that were made after this story, but I quite enjoyed this one. The acting is ok and although the storyline is a bit thin the movie is quite entertaining right until the end. Especially the strong friendship of the boys, sticking together no matter what happens, was a nice element in the movie.
At the moment this movie can be seen in the German cinemas and the release on VHS and DVD has not been announced yet. But I will keep you updated on its release since the movie is worth watching.
More information (in German) can be obtained trough the movie's website:
