Thought I might as well start a thread on the next Potter movie...  even though it's still a year away.

We can keep adding updates or new links as they are found.

Darn. I liked the school uniforms, with blazers and all. It's a shame that the new director is doing away with those.  Sad

I'm looking forward to seeing next year's installment (this one!) in the series, though. Smiley

Love,
Sir J

Wow, I hadn't realized until now that Alfonso Cuaron was the new Harry Potter director! That's so weird!! It should be interesting. He certainly is talented (Y Tu Mama Tabien was amazing), but he'll probably be much more tempted to stray away from the source material than the previous director was. Doing away with the uniforms is already an indication of that.

We'll have to wait and see whether it's going to work or not. I don't agree with people who think movie adaptions should always be loyal to the books. Films and novels are two very different media and what works in one doesn't always work as well in the other. However, the HP series (like the Lord of the Ring trilogy) has such an elaborate mythology already surrounding it that it might be awkward to stray from the original too much.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. It could be the best HP movie so far, although if it strays from the book too much people will lynch it. Smiley

I don't like the idea of the new costuming either.  I loved the old Gryffindor capes and scarves.  But I'll also wait and see how the storyline alibis the changes.

"Sir Michael, 62, will portray the headmaster as an old hippie."  Oh God, he will?!  I hope he doesn't try to TALK like Dennis Hopper! Shocked  I'm hoping that statement is just journalistic carelessness. Tongue

I'm against the uniform change too...  seems pretty pointless to me.  I have my doubts about the next installment but I hope I'm wrong.  I'm certainly not 'hanging out' in anticipation like I was for the first one.

I agree with Joseph ..that it is an interesting choice of director.

ever wondered how much a movie director earns?

according to london times, mike newell, who helms next HP movie, is expected to be paid about £620,000.[that's just under a million US dollars]

it doesn't say whether he'll also be getting a cut of profits.

filming will be at (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) in hertfordshire.

the (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) is based there too.

more about money.

according to current print edition of people magazine - daniel gets $3.2 million for Azbakan which is up from $320,000 combined for first two movies.

also - from uk daily star - daniel will play death-defying quidditch game amid raging storm as one of  movie's climaxes.

warner bros were worried 13-year-old celeb would be made ill .

so they've ordered wet-weather thermals to protect child stars.

supplied by (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) who also make small size jackets for wallace - hapless hero of (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links).

wet-weather garments = lightweight polyurethane plastic - incredibly strong and durable.

finally - Xpose magazine has daniel on cover -a fave fantasy person.

$3.2 mil is a very nice pay rise.

I'd sure like to know how much his co-stars are getting in comparison.

I'm a bit puzzled how a company that makes small size jackets for an animated character, Wallace___ do animated characters actually need jackets made for them?___ gets to make thermal duds for humans. Diversity I guess  Smiley

I do hope Daniel stops growing for a while though..  maybe the water will shrink him a little

a harry potter garden

I used to potter in the garden, you know, pull out roots and stuff...

though since Harry came onto the scene I'd rather do the reverse

..some gardening on Potter before he gets too bushy.  Perhaps a bonsai treatment.  Roll Eyes

how bizarre - i was perusing the london area on a web site called meetup and there are 64 people registered for a daniel radcliffe special interest group.

i'd like to go along to a meeting but i'd feel self-conscious turning up on my own.

should i expect to be mingling with teen girls? gay boys? HP nerds?
