I'm Not Scared (2003)

A moment to remember: post no. 100 for me!

Io non ho paura has been mentioned before; Zabladowski even wrote a very positive review after watching the movie in Montreal. Just wanted to add that the movie will be released on DVD on October 22nd. According to the data the DVD has English subtitles. You can find a link here: (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links). I ordered through this site once before and must say the service is quite good. Price for shipment was quite high though, but at the moment this is the only Italian website that I know of that ships outside the country.

Latest information: Gabriele Salvatores' "Io non Ho Paura (I'm Not Scared)" has been selected as Italy's candidate for this year's Academy Awards. The movie, based on Niccolo Ammaniti's popular novel and set in a small village in Sicily, tells of the relationship between a boy who's been abducted and the son of his kidnapper. "I hope I can represent Italy well," Salvatores told the AGI news agency Wednesday. "`Io non Ho Paura' is not only the tale of a kidnapping, it is also and above all a parable about the passage from childhood to adulthood."

Thanks 'soles. This does look good!

I thought I had that site figured out so I could place an order, but I must be clicking the wrong button when I get right to the point of completing the purchase. So, thus far, I haven't been able to get it to work, but I'll try again when I'm not so busy at work. Smiley

(Well, either that, or I have about a dozen copies of it on the way by now.)  Shocked

Thanks again for the link to a place to order it!

Love,
Sir J

Can anyone match actor names to pics from this movie...

Giuseppe Cristiano (Michele)
Mattia DiPierro  (Filippo)
Stefano Biase  (Salvatore)
Fabio Antonacci  (Remo)

Both of the pictures in this thread are of Giuseppe Cristiano.

From the BA Gallery, Mattia Di Pierro plays the prisoner (pix 14-16). Stefano Biase is the boy on the left in picture 6 who plays Michele's best friend.

I guess by default that would make the boy on his right Fabio Antonacci; although since that character used a nickname in the film, I couldn't determine the actor's name from the credits and am therefore not certain whether or not this is true.

This was a fine Italian film with much credit to the two leading boy actors. Also the photography was excellent, all wide open spaces of cornfields and expansive blue skies. Certainly a film with an unusual plot twist.

You must be thinking of another movie, 'Boymoviebuff' as 'I'm Not Scared' starring Guiseppe Cristiano is 97 minutes long.

You may right, the one I saw the kidnapped boy was a few years younger! maybe 7 or 8, it was French or Italian video without subs. IF memory serves!
