SBS are showing this movie Sunday night - it looks interesting (and quite scary):

SHOWCASE MOVIE- DRAMA - TOM THUMB


Based on the classic fairy tale by Charles Perrault. These are difficult times, a civil war rages, devastating the land. Marauding soldiers pillage the family farm and the villagers suffer a famine. Out of despair, Tom's parents decide to abandon their five children and through a ruse, lead them into the depths of the dark forest - a place inhabited by ferocious packs of wolves and a force of ruthless vagabonds commanded by an iron-legged soldier. This forbidding place is where the child-eating ogre awaits. Stars Catherine Deneuve, Nils Hugon and Roman Bohringer. (From France, English subtitles) (2001) WS

Thanks Gazza....

I've only managed to see a Spanish subtitled version of this movie. An English subtitled version is much more to my liking.

Actually I'm surprised this one made it to our shores. SBS hasn't been bothering much with 'family' movies in recent years. I hope this means we may get to see a few more of them.
