RICO YAN

His values, integrity and achievements
are so clearly worth emulating.

He touched down on the Earth plane as a Filipino named Ricardo Carlos Castro Yan on March 14, 1975.

He grew up to be a responsible young man who knew the importance of education.

He bacame a multi-awarded matinee idol but he never exploited the power of celebrity.

He smartly ventured into business and became one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the land.

He formed a movement that helped the youth fight the temptations of the age.

He was chosen as the most outstanding role model for the youth and became the Department of Education's official ambassador in reaching out to out-of-school youths and encouraging the 20 million students nationwide to stay in school.

On January, 2001, he called upon the youth to help overthrow what he believed was a mendacious Philippine government.

He declared: "Education is the key and the only weapon to solve the social ills in the society."

He did charity acts for the poor and the elderly, most of which were unpublished, done in secrecy.

He was a warmhearted son, brother and friend who genuinely made every person he met feel important and loved.
At the age of 27, on Good Friday, March 29, 2002 at the paradise island of Palawan, he departed to the Blessed Realms and touched the face of God.

-quoted from Realm of Citadel

Yes, he was certainly a handsome young man.  Smiley

I see from his credits at IMDb that he's perhaps a little too old for our database, though, as his movie career seems to have been while he was in his early 20's.  I know a couple of people who have died of pancreatitis, which was because they were very heavy drinkers.  I hope it wasn't alcoholism at such a young age that caused his, too.   Undecided

He certainly did accomplish a lot in his short life.

Love,
Sir J
