coronation street (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

newspaper columnist validates boylove.

<i>There have been a lot of endearing young characters in soapland, but has there ever been one so <b>scrumptious</b> as the delightful Chesney?

He is utterly heartbreaking, and his loyalty to his ghastly mother Cilla, despite her appalling behaviour, is so believable, it makes you cry.

Sam Aston, who plays him, is an extraordinary young talent, and with Wendi Peters, who plays Cilla, the Street has come up with another truly great double act...</i>

That "Tree" commercial that Sam Aston appeared in is funny, apple.   Grin

Using the word "scrumptious" does sound a bit like the reviewer liked the boy who played the character a lot.  Smiley

it's great to see members of the non-human animal kingdom relishing the world of soaps.
------------
MAJOR the pony cannot get enough of his favourite soap — Coronation Street.

Every time he hears the famous theme tune he trots from his stable and bangs on his owner’s door to be let in.

Then he settles down in the living room with a bag of carrots to watch the latest goings on from Weatherfield.

Major, who at 33ins tall is the size of a large dog, bridles if he ever misses an episode.

Owner Lisa Griffiths, 35, said: “Major can be very bossy and really sulks if he misses the show.
“He always knows when Corrie is on. He either stands up or sits with his hind quarters on the sofa to watch.

“Once it has started it’s very hard to get him away.

“We couldn’t believe it at first but he soon became addicted.”

Horse breeder Lisa said Major, an Argentinian Falabella, first heard the Corrie strains from his stable behind her family small-holding in Llanelli, South Wales.

Damn!

I reckon it's all those subliminal messages on the TV.

..or just mabe it's evolution. Perhaps Orwell's Animal Farm was more than a social satire.

My cat watches TV but I don't think it has a favourite program.

Has the new 'Mr. Ed' TV series been seen by anyone yet?

I've seen an article about that, but I didn't even know that it was already on.  I did watch the original in my younger days, though. Smiley

i didn't realise the sun expires stories so quickly.

i was just checking link (because i was going to post it on an equine forum) - and it's gone.

BTW was it you Sir Jacob who complained about not being able to right click on sun pix?

i'm informed that if one uses opera, it's possible to  to obtain sun images.

otherwise one can just grab the screen image.

unfortunately neither option's available to me at this time.

Thanks for that info, and link, apple.

I suppose that I'm too dumb to figure out Opera, myself, as I've not been able to do screen captures, either, even with excellent instruction from MikeZ.  I'm just computer-savvy enough to Google for pics that others have posted, so any that I share are the products of someone else's efforts, always.   Undecided

Well, except the few lousy captures that I managed to make at one time with a Dazzle contraption, but even those didn't come out like the high quaility caps that so many share at BA.  I love the caps that we have in our database.  Smiley

I do like to download pics that people link to in our threads, though, in order to post them in these threads here before they disappear.  When I can do it, I usually do so.  When I can't, I always hope that someone else will.  That's a hint... for anyone.   Wink

Love,
Sir J

<i>07 September 2004

'Coronation Street' cleaned up at the TV Quick awards last night taking four including Best Soap...

The real discovery was little Samuel Aston who plays Chesney Brown in 'Corrie'. He beat the adults to Best Newcomer and took it all in his stride.

"I feel really shocked that I've won, I can't believe it. It is my second award that I've won, but this one, I couldn't believe it when they said my name."

"You think 'Oh God I've won, what am I going to say? What am I going to say?' But then something comes off the top of your head, it's really cool."</i>

<i>Chesney a Street urchin

CUTE Corrie star Sam Aston is to play Oliver Twist in a Street version of the hit musical.

Sam, 11 — telly’s Chesney Brown — will take on the role of the famous street urchin for a BBC Children In Need charity special.</i> [website linked below]

<i>Actor Bruce Jones, who plays his surrogate soap dad Les Battersby, will star with him as cruel orphanage boss Mr Bumble in the classic tale by Charles Dickens.

The pair will recreate the scene from the 1968 film Oliver! in which the hungry lad begs for another helping of gruel, saying: “Please Sir, I want some more.”

And Bradley Walsh — Corrie’s Danny Baldwin — will be pickpocket king Fagin, whose gang of child thieves Oliver joins after running away.

Co-stars will sing hits from the musical, including Consider Yourself and Oom-Pah-Pah.

The special will be screened next month as part of the telethon’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

Telly insiders expect Sam to put in a performance to rival child star Mark Lester, who appeared in the original film.

One said: “Sam’s fantastic for the part. He’s used to playing a character who goes through trials and tribulations.”

Chesney has much in common with Oliver. Fans have seen him mistreated and abandoned by mum Cilla Brown (actress Wendi Peters), forced to shoplift from Rita, and become unlikely pals with Les.

The only real allies the schoolboy has are Les, sister Fizz and dog Schmeichel.

Schoolboy actor Sam, who started out in the Werther’s Originals adverts, has collected a clutch of gongs this year.

He is favourite to win Best Newcomer at the National TV Awards next Tuesday — the youngest star ever nominated</i> - itv voting form linked below.

<i>The Sun told this month how he has signed a mega-bucks deal to stay in Corrie another year.</i> - allegedly (according to the sun) £40,000 per year.

sam wins another award!
-------
<i>...The youngest ever winner of the awards, he was given a specially-adapted microphone stand to accept it at the Royal Albert Hall ceremony, shown live on ITV1.

"I have had a mint year," he declared. The young star is reported to have recently signed a £40,000 deal to stay with the soap for at least another year.

But he said: "I love being on Coronation Street - I want to be in it forever"...

...It was a double night of celebration for Coronation Street - it was named Best Soap.</i>
