Columbia's <u>zathura</u> got a much needed jolt of zip when it was announced that the director of <u>elf</u>, Jon Favreau, had attached himself to the project.

Now, thanks to a scooper, we've been able to learn where the project may begin filming and confirm that the central characters in Van Allsburg's book will remain unchanged in the movie.

<u>danny budwig</u> -  6 and 3/4 years old, he's curious, wildly imaginative, small in stature. Despite his gifts, Danny feels inferior to his athletic and popular older brother, Walter. Coping with his parents' separation, Danny struggles with his desire for extra attention and his need to be taken seriously. He wants to prove he's not the annoying, cheating-at-board-games baby Walter makes him out to be, and the forthcoming zathura adventure demonstrates that Danny has a reservoir of strength no one has seen before.

<u>walter budwig</u> - 9 years old, Danny's older brother. A gifted athlete at all sports, Danny possesses the ease and confidence that his little brother lacks. A natural leader, he's probably one of the only kids in his third grade class to have a girlfriend, and is used to getting his way. Never did he fathom relying on Danny in an intergalactic quest to return their house back to earth.
