"Time of the Wolf"
No, I don't mean the Canadian movie.  I mean this one:

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Currently on the "art-house" circuit in the US.  Watch for it.

The boy is Lucas Biscombe as Ben, maybe 10 years old.  There is also Hakim Taleb, about 14.  Ben, his mom and sister have to survive after some unnamed disaster.  That's Lucas in the poster.

I love that poster!  That's one that I'd collect to frame and hang on my wall.  I'll be looking for that movie, hosenhaus. Thanks for mentioning it.  Smiley

Love,
Sir J

freckles...

For those who have seen it:

The kid is seen as a Christ-figure at the end; do you think the blood is intended to emphasize that?  to foreshadow that?

I found it to be a hard going film to watch (I can't call it a 'movie') ...  very bleak with some incredibly slow scenes..  minimalist, almost dogma'95 style that only 'film' buffs would appreciate.

I wonder why the boy thought he had to get naked to jump in the fire?

I've never really considered that idea Hosenhaus, but I think it's a good theory.  I'm afraid I'm just not a deep enough thinker for some of these films.
We need josephk to watch this one and explain it to us all.  Grin

Hmm. I have a copy of it at home, but haven't got around to it yet. I'll let you know what I think when I see it.

apprently nothing spectacular... the average rating on the movie list is 6.0, apparently, and Netflix has it for "free" (streaming) for regular subscribers.

I think I'll watch 5 Children and It .. much light fare for this evening!

The film wasn't popular here either, in its country of origin.

Cal, why did he have to get naked to jump in the fire?  Maybe he didn't want to get his school clothes dirty. (jk)

Probably the same sense of illogic in wearing shorts to shower or bathe in a western-world film.
