Ben Clover, Wimbledon Post

AN AUTHOR who earned a record 3million advance for her first book says she loves Wimbledon and has no plans to move away.

Michelle Paver stunned the literary world last week when details of the deal for her book Wolf Brother were revealed.

It is the biggest ever advance for a debut children's novel. She wrote it 22 years ago while at university and only received the huge payout after she decided to rewrite it.

Michelle, 44, who was born in Malawi, came to the area when she was eight and now lives near the centre of Wimbledon. Her mother, Odette, also lives in the borough.

The book is about a boy growing up in the Stone Age with a wolf as his best friend.

Research took her to Finland, Lapland and Greenland where she endured harsh conditions, carrying her tent on horseback and at one time eating whale blubber.

She told The Post she fully intends to stay in Wimbledon. "I have a little house and garden and I love it. I have been walking the dogs on Cannizaro Park since I came here," she said.

She had to rewrite it??

I wonder what sort of stuff got left out?  I bet it was all the good bits that the morality wankers would have hernias over.

Let's see how many years do we think it will be before the movies get made... less than five?
