This poster was promoting the original French version of what you might know as The War of the Buttons, 80s kid.

If you have seen that film, you might understand how the depiction of a nude boy is related to the film (and if you haven't, see the film, it's pretty decent  Smiley).

Everybody's reaction here speaks to the idea that no matter how related to the story the picture might be,
there is no way such a picture would be used today to promote any movie in the US, Canada or Australia and its hard to imagine that such a picture was ever used anywhere.

Yes, can anyone imagine the uproar if such a poster was used today. Even the images of a half naked Jeremy Sumpter as Peter Pan were enough to make people scared of going to see that movie. There was also much lengthy discussion about the suggestive nature of the images.

That is funny picture.

I think I seen this movie a long time ago when boys run to chase other boys and only wear shoes.

I look on internet search and it says this movie made two times in France, La Guerre Des Boutons in 1960 and La Guerre Des Gosses in 1936. 

Some movies made many times I guess.

That poster's nothing compared to the one for Pixote Smiley
You can see the poster for Pixote here (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I believe the US version of the poster (which is the one on that site) was "blurred" - but if the billboards on display in "Who Killed Pixote?" are anything to go by, the poster was displayed un-censored in Brazil.

I seen dvd cover for this film and on real dvd it is almost same picture except is a real boy not a drawing and mabey it is scene in film.  Thats mabey where Italy got idea to make drawing for poster.  It looks more funny on poster than picture of real boy on dvd.
