Kid from Left Field, The (1953)

Hello,

I apologize in advance for asking something right from the beginning   Grin
I noticed the old thread dedicated to Billy Chapin in the archives and saw that a picture called "the kid from left field" was rerered to. As I am looking for this movie for ages, I am just wondering if it has been available on vhs someday. I could only locate a remake with Gary Coleman during my researches. If it is not available, maybe someone has been able to watch on television and I would already be happy if I could obtain a review about the film.

Thank you,
Keegan

Unfortunately I can't help much... I haven't seen it since I was a kid and all I can remember is I liked Billy Chapin in it ...  I've rated it a 6/10 on the database but that could easily change should I see it again.

Thank you for the nice photograph. It certainly makes me want to want to watch the movie all the more.
Billy was certainly a fine actor but this particular movie has certainly not obtained the degree of popularity Night of the hunter has. This is certainly justified, as the Laughton's movie is a sort of ultimate masterpiece (undoubtly the only movie I truly worship) but I keep hoping to watch the kid from left field one day.

If like this movie I seen other very good baseball movie with boy 10 year old in it and it is very old film I seen on TCM.  It is name "Safe At Home" and I like movie very much.

I dont know who is boy in film but he popular in 1950s or 1960s.

I have finally been able to watch it and I am certainly glad about that. It is an enjoyable and warm movie family. Still a studio product but with the quality that this kind of pictures had during the golden age. It is funny to think that Billy Chapin would have been  forgotten if he had only gotten this lead but being part of the Night of the hunter eternity is waiting for him.
