Good to see Malcolm Stumpf doing another movie.
This looks like it's going to be quite an interesting one, and controversial.

The movie is scheduled for Sundance.

Wow, thanks Cal. This looks like a very interesting film. Though it's the director's films feature film (he's only 24 years old), his shorts have been playing in festivals and managed to get the attention of Gus Van Sant, which explains why he was able to get this movie financed.

The responses to his work have been very diverse, to say the least. Some hail it as visionary, while others call it pretentious crap. Hard to tell who is right, but like always it probably falls somewhere in between. (It's also pretty clear from some of the comments on IMDb that some of the director's peers are just jealous.)

In any case, he obviously shares our interest in movies featuring young, male actors. Two of his shorts are called "Drowning River Phoenix" and "Forgetting Jonathan Brandis." All of his work so far has been "boy-centric," most of which includes some "gay" element as well.

Someone on IMDb insinuates that the only reason one of his shorts got into some film festival was because of his "relationship" with Gus Van Sant. I'm thinking sleeping with Van Sant sounds like a pretty good strategy if it'll get you some financing for this sort of project! I wonder how I can get in touch with him? Wink

Some of this director's short films are airing on the Sundance Channel this month.

I've never seen any of his work so I have no comment other than I look forward to seeing this film sometime later this year.

Hopefully it is also aired for Sundance Channel.  Smiley  May be the only way I get to see this.
