How do you find out if a site is honest, if you're intrested in buying from them?

I got a couple of VHS videos from Rewind more than 5 years ago.
No question about their honesty.
Just about the low budget production values.
Not quite as bad as "video-taped in the back yard"...
but almost.

[However, it may not be a bad thing to have no budget for costumes!]

low budget films

I checked out this site and from what I could tell it appeared as if these were extremely low budget movies. I can't say that the website was particularly well-designed, either. Aren't there child labor laws which they would be in violation of if they just went out and started shooting movies which they then turn around and sell?

Rewind Motion Pictures have been around for many years. They are, as Hosenhaus mentioned, rather low budget, however they are obviously quite legal and honest. I don't think you'll be taking any risk in ordering movies from them.

I've done a fair amount of business with Rewind in the past several years and have found Patrick (who is pretty much the whole operation) to be very honest and accomodating.  His movies, the ones he produces, such as the Nathan's Gift series (David McGady in Hosenhaus' first pic), and the amateur films from the 70's and 80's (Andrew Mason in the second) he distributes, are very low budget but fun if you have a taste for that kind of thing.  I just ordered his latest DVD yesterday.

Incidentally, Rewind is a business and the purpose is to make money.  I'm certain Patrick obeys all the British child labor laws in making his films.

I'm curious whether Rewind is more of a hobby that makes money or more of a business that provides a sole means of livelihood. Does any one know if the person (or people) who own Rewind actually make a living from this enterprise or is it a situation where its sort of done on weekends, evening, and holidays? I suspect that in years to come that more and more of these businesses will pop up. With all the cheap and easy video-related equipment and software available, I'd imagine that almost anyone with the inclination and minimal resources could put together video productions. Of course promotion of such a business would be quite a challenge...

I believe Rewind started out as a hobby, or ar least a side business, but eventually became very profitable.  Patrick is also the well-known sports photographer, "Marcus Arelius."  He's a former child actor himself and has had a long career as a performer/writer/director/producer in both professional and amateur films, tv and the stage.
He went to acting classes with Mark Dightam (from Polanski's MacBeth) and his best friend is Mark Lester, who is now a chiropracter.

I think that comment, over pictures of half-undressed minor children, is totally inappropriate and I'd like to see an apology posted here by you for making it.

No apology is necessary. Freedom of expression is welcome here as long as it is not an attack on other posters. Your comment requesting an apology is very closs to crossing the line (i.e. attacking another poster).

Respect the fact that we all have differing opinions. If there are aspects of this forum you don't appreciate then I suggest you find somewhere else to post.

Remember this is an International forum and is not dictated by your own local beliefs or levels of 'morality'.

I’m back! It has been a long hard road this Christmas with my store. With 80 hour work weeks, I just have not had the time to participate.

As for Rewind Pictures: It is a legitimate business and it has integrity. You will not have to worry about this site. I converse with Patrick on a weekly basis in another forum. You do not have to worry about him either. Go for it. Patrick is a nice man and dedicated to his photography.
