The family still claims it wasn't a suicide.  It must be extremely difficult to face such a reality, if this is the case.  Maybe even moreso for the parents of a child actor, who 'worked' as a youngster.

Is there something about a parent that makes you want for your child the opposite of what they have, regardless of what it is?

Excellent question.  As tragic as Joe Pichler's situation is, the question regarding parents raising their children as 'normal' can be quite unique when it comes to child actors.... compared to those parents who wish for their child to become an actor.

Having met many young actors, both children and adult, through working with the production crew.... there are some parents who are fanatical about the fact that their child is not having a 'normal' childhood.

By the same token, there are some parents who stick their kid in front of a computer for an hour or two and call it 'school', then have no problem with the child being on the set for ten or twelve hours. 

The contrast in parents is remarkable.
