The reason it was working for you is that the picture was saved in your computer's cache. Your Internet browser saves images in a temporary folder instead of downloading them every time. So when it saw the link to the picture on IMDb, it could disply it from there.

IMDb (and most commercial websites) don't allow people to post direct links to images, so you have to upload them on the forum if you want others to see them.
