One of the small subplots in the movie...

10-year-old Jan (played by Marcel Nievelstein), riding bikes with some friends, happens to pass by the field where the newly-formed gay soccer team practices.  The team is pretty clumsy at this stage.

But Jan recognizes one of the players.  It's his father.  Jan has not seen him for a long time.

A few days later, Jan tracks down his father again.

According to the Court Order, I'm not allowed to see you.

When I lived with your mother and you, it took me a long time to figure out who I really was.  But when I figured it out, I had to leave your mother...

He tells Jan about the soccer match they will be playing, and Jan plans to defy his mother to come and watch the match.

Here, Jan just shows up at his father's appartment.  A bit awkward because of the two "friends" there at the time.
