hosenhaus, have you seen the film where your first cap is from, "Before Night Falls"?

(Or has anyone seen this?)

The scene with the two pieces of money is so intriguing and really makes a person curious to know what that particular scene is about.

Thanks.

I've seen it. If I remember correctly, it's his father offering him the money.

Thanks Joseph.  His concentration on the pieces is so intense, it makes sense if its his father.  Perhaps he is wondering what extra work he will have to do to earn this.

I think he's just puzzled by the whole thing. Again, my memory may not be completely accurate, but I don't think his father was very present during his childhood. In fact, I'm not even sure he knew this man was his father. So he's probably wondering why this stranger is offering him money.
