By this I mean which actor(s) do you personally find ideal as a boy, not just as an actor.
I can't name just one above all others, because there are so many exceptional ones but on a personal basis, one of my ideal boys (as he was in this film) is David Eberts in "Burning Secret" ( 1988 ).
His sensitivity, intelligence, integrity, charm, sincere nature and loyalty are qualities which all endear him to me. These are some of the ideal qualities I find appealing.



Since I cannot find one iota of personal information about him, I have always wondered if he is British or American. He plays an American boy in this movie, but I have always felt he seems to have an underlying British accent. I could be wrong, but I could be right. Does anyone know?

Another boy actor who has always been one of my ideals as a boy is Michel Ray. I like everything about him (as he was when he was a boy). He was (also like David) sensitive, intelligent, charming and had an indefinable charasmatic  quality to his nature. Here is a definition that I feel describes him well:
"The word charisma (from the Greek word ÷Üñéóìá (kharisma), "gift" or "divine favor," from kharizesthai, "to favor," from kharis, "favor": see also charism) refers to a rare trait found in certain human personalities usually including extreme charm and a 'magnetic' quality of personality and/or appearance along with innate and powerfully sophisticated personal communicability and persuasiveness."
He had these qualities in all of his acting roles.

Michael Chaplin, son of Charlie Chaplin. He seems ideal to me also. Charismatic personality, intelligent, sensitive, deep.

And I must include as one of my ideal boys, Darby Hinton, who played Israel Boone on "Daniel Boone" on TV in the 1960s. He is what I call a 'real boy'. He's all boy, playful, mischieveous, an earthy realist, but kind, good hearted and smart. Yes, he's charismatic too. That's something all these boys have in common.

His sensitivity, intelligence, integrity, charm, sincere nature . . .

Oh yes, thanks for reminding me: Clay O'Brien is also one of my all time ideal boys. He was always so natural, so down -to-earth and came accross as a nice person. I read that he grew up to be a rodeo rider.

David Ladd, yes I very much agree. He was another ideal boy of mine. There was something about him that set him apart. He was special.

Barret Oliver, as he appeared in his on screen roles was very definitely an ideal boy, almost super-ideal! Especially as he was in his poignant portrayal of D.A.R.Y.L. I'm not so sure that he lived up to that in real life though.

I used to feel that River Phoenix was ideal but became disillusioned with him because of his drug use, but more than that because of his denial that he had a drug problem while telling kids to stay off drugs. I feel his life was a tragedy. He was a great actor, he could have been one of the all time greats, up there with Brando and Dean. I admire his talent and I know he was a good person, but it's frustrating that he threw it all away.

As far as ideal sensuous beauty goes, Julien Ciamaca is at the top of the list.

Thanks for bringing up "Motorama".  The movie had some flaws in its directing, but it is certainly a picture that one can never, ever forget.... (although some may want to, if they aren't a fan of films with boy actors).

Jordan Christopher Michael was very good in this flic, and it would be nice to see if he was ever in anything else.

Your second choice of Jeremy Sumpter can hardly be argued with either, particularily in that role.

Mark Lester.... he seems to be a favorite among many fans of boyactors.  Angelic in appearance, and as you stated, even better (as an actor) as he grew a bit.

CAYDEN BOYD certainly has the most perfect body of all current boy actors. He has everything you could ever want in a boy...  :luvstruck:

Cal, some of your picks are quite interesting.... and most intriguing of all is a favorite here in this country, Antoine du Merle.  

This young actor has been in many films, and also some television programs.  He's a brave little fellow as well, in four films he has appeared on camera quite 'natural'.  

Although "Les Trois Frères" is an extremely funny flic, it is with certainty that du Merle's best effort is his 2001 short film, "L'Eternel Garçon".... with a close second being "Ouvre, c'est papa!" a 20 minute or so picture from when he was age eleven.

It's a shame that so much of du Merle's talent has been spent on the small screen.

Johnny Sheffield might very well be the luckiest boy who ever lived.

Half a childhood spent in a loincloth, running barefoot, climbing trees, swinging on ropes & vines, riding baby elephants, a chimp as a sidekick and an Olympic swimmer as a swim instructor - best friend - and role model...... and on top of this being a child movie star as a result of all these activities.

Now, 60 to 70 years later..... it's all digitally restored on dvd.

It's nice to see a child actor story without a negative outcome in the end.
