Very few of those type of kids' shows actually go into a second season here. Often the channels that commission a series hold back on showing it until many months after the final episodes are filmed.

The actors aren't usually tied to contracts for possible additional seasons and the kids would probably be a couple of years older by the time a second series was ready to be filmed.

Even if the series is a big hit, it is difficult to write scripts for an entire second season and maintain the quality. An added problem occurs when the series is based on books, especially if there are no more books left to film.

I'm happy with the 26 episodes and think that they should move on to something else now.

According to the Wikipedia entry there will be a second series.

"Essential Viewing, the company responsible for producing the Lockie Leonard TV series, has confirmed a second series will be filmed. This series is to be shot in Albany, WA, during the later half of 2009, and will screen is Australia in either the third quarter of 2009, or early in 2010. The series will also screen in the UK, Canada and America. The cast list is expected to remain unchanged, with new and original stories formulated by the show's writers."

Somehow I don't think it will be as good as the first Sad

Well, it couldn't possibly get any BETTER!  so the best we can hope is that it's watchable!

I'm willing to give it a shot, but I think that it's success will hinge on whether or not Sean Keenan can retain his youthful charm through a second series filmed well after the end of the first.
A dubious propect indeed in that he will be 16-17 when they film it.

Yeah, but Corey will be 13ish, and if they just give HIM some of the spotlight... or would that be too much to hope for?

That would be an awesome sequel... a change of character for a change of perspective on Angelus!

or maybe: "My brother is Lockie Leonard!" (just kidding, that's a crap title)

I'm rather disappointed that they intend to make a second series. The gap is too great and the show will be tailor made for TV, by TV scriptwriters with an eye on international sales = bland. I think I'll steer clear of it unless as suggested above, Phillip becomes the centeral character.

Well good news Lockie Leonard won a Logie for "Most Outstanding Children's Program" bad news as you can see from the caps Sean has really grown alot, almost as tall as his on screen dad now, and they want to start shooting S2 in 2009 Sad

He still looks like Lockie... only bigger!  But the show will be very different with / about a teenager than with the cute kids / kid problems.  Normally teen problems are too deep to make amusing, or if they are amusing, they are not very realistic.  No, I don't have much hope for the sequel without changing it to Philip!

If Sean Keenan looked like that in 2008 I dread to think what he looks like now. We also must not forget Corey McKernan who played his kid brother, Philip.
