Yeah, when Ralph Macchio starred in the first Karate Kid film he was already an adult. I forgot exactly how old he was but I seem to remember him being over 18.

Just out of curiousity what was Freddie's breakout movie or the one that put him on the map as a notable child actor. What was his best movie. Does he have anything else coming out.

Well, although I do very much like Freddie, I'm not really a part of his fan community.

I guess his real breakthrough movie - and also his best performance as yet - was as Peter Llewelyn Davis in Finding Neverland. He already was 11-12 years back then, but looked a few years younger.

Two Brothers came out pretty much at the same time, a movie which hit our cinemas here some time after Finding Neverland.

People might argue Charlie and the Chocolate Factory should be one of Freddie's best movies, however, while I think he did fairly well in it next to Johnny Depp again, I am of the opinion that his breakthrough performance in Finding Neverland reached a broader audience and received slightly more public attention and praise.

I haven't seen Arthur and the Minimoys and Five Children and It, both of which look like slightly weird children movies. August Rush and Spiderwick are definitely okay movies, but not the kinda big hits I would have expected from him.

He is involved in recent productions, and I guess he will be part of the Hollywood industry for years to come, as he definitely is a bright young man with screen presence and experience by now.

Although I definitely am a big fan, I mostly agree with Andreas (for once.  Cheesy ) about his assessment of the various movies.

As for his future work... while I hope he will continue to play in movies for years to come, he has stated in interviews that he doesn't intend to make a career out of it as an adult. That was a few years ago. Maybe he's changed his mind since then.

That's almost exactly what I said about Haley Joel Osment 4 or 5 years ago. I wonder what he IS doing now?

So I went to imdb and found out. Duh. Two acting jobs in films this year.

I just saw "Five Children and It" and I have already seen "Arthur and the Minimoys" ... I don't know that you'd enjoy the latter (it's mostly animation with voice-over) but if you liked "Spiderwick" then you'll probably enjoy "5 Children and It" too...  I did, anyway.
