environmentally friendly

lol

Sorry. I asked for opinions. I shouldn't complain when people offer them. It's just that the very first comment was about the illegibility of the text, and I explained that it was that way on purpose. And then the whole discussions seems to center around whether or not the text is legible or whether or not that has to do with my monitor being properly calibrated. Who cares? Moving on.

By the way, I'm debating whether I should make a gallery for Spiderwick Chronicles. I watched it earlier this week and I've got the VOB files on my computer, ready to be capped. But it's such a well-known movie that I don't know if it's worth it. We don't have a gallery here though. Maybe I'll just make 20 to put on the database... And that way I can also update my blog.

I'm trying to cap every movie that I'm renting if it doesn't already have a gallery. Next up is Shane, but that's already been galleried. Another DVD should be shipped to me today, but I don't know what it'll be yet. (I'm on the cheapest plan, which only ships 2 DVDs at a time.)

I was going to say that I thought your text was way too intrusive, but I won't now.

I say, do the gallery for Spiderwick. I recall, Joseph, a way back when I posted similar doubts about doing a gallery for Finding Neverland, you were one who encouraged me to go ahead. I know you can find interesting, representative pics, carefully chosen.

(I know you won't submit 15 caps showing the different stages of a boy's smile.)

By the way, my blog was short-lived. I read a lot of reports of Tumblr deactivating accounts of boy-related blogs, without any notification, so I got paranoid and decided to delete it. The reason is I have several different blogs linked to the same account, and I didn't want to have my other (non-boy-related) blogs deleted because of this one.

Their terms of services don't state anything about images of minors. All they say is that you can't use their service for illegal activity, fraud, etc. They also say people who break those rules will be given 72 hours notice, during which they can remedy the problem or have their blog deleted.

And yet I know several people whose blogs have been delete without any warning simply for posting images of shirtless teenagers. No nudity, no sexually suggestive poses, just shirtless. And teenagers - not even young boys.

When they wrote to Tumblr to complain, Tumblr replied that they take this matter very seriously and can't afford to give people 72 hours notice. I guess shirtless teenagers are more harmful than fraud or identity theft.

Of course, if you're looking for pictures of naked girls of any age, they're all over Tumblr, and no one seems to be complaining about that.

So basically, Tumblr are a bunch of hypocritical assholes. But their blogging platform is also really awesome and I like the community of users there, so I still use it for my other photo blog. Sucks for the ones who got their account deleted, though.

I hate to sound cliche but this is another example of today's "witch hunt mentality" hysteria. I blame, more than anyone else, the mass media. They have latched onto this subject in the 1980s and have been spreading and encouraging fear, hatred and paranoia ever since. Then the general public embraces it and so here we are with absurd examples like this one. Those very same pictures could have been published in the pre-hysteria days with no problems or complaints at all.

Yeah...

Argh. I'm obsessed with that picture of Brad Renfro you now use as an avatar. I don't know why, but I love it.
