Hey guys,

I happened to see a beautiful movie today - more or less stumbled over it accidentally while zapping around: Wer küsst schon gern einen Leguan? , a German TV movie from 2003.

It kinda surprised me that I didn't know this movie - anyway, I missed the first 30 minutes, but was immediately caught by it and somehow managed to get into the story.

The two main actors were absolutely magnificent. Freddie Lau, known from the remake of Flying Classroom, won me over after two minutes. However, it was the story itself that didn't allow me to zap away. The boy befriends the soap opera writer next door and the two of them become very close... best friends and father and son at the same time. Very convincing, very moving, with a couple of wonderfully acted, emotional and heart-wrenching moments you would never expect in a TV production like this.

This definitely is an unknown gem.

Frederick Lau has been just fantastic in the two films I've seen him in (Die Welle and Das Fliegende Klassenzimmer). I'm sure he'll be good in this as well. CVMC has this title for rent with English subs, so I imagine I'll see this one day....
