Yeah, I even used to use 'sick' back in the late 70s, early 80s as meaning very cool in a kind of radical sense. It's a term that's been around for a few decades. There were many such expressions and I guess there always will be. 'Groovy', 'Far Out', 'Cool', 'Radical', 'Wicked', 'Right On', 'Awesome', plenty more that I've probably forgotten. I don't know what terms are actually 'in' at the moment, but I still use 'Cool' a LOT, and get a tad annoyed when kids think they have exclusive rights to it's usage. heh.
True. I don't remember hearing it back in the day but maybe it wasn't a big term used in L.A. The spelling of the term as used today is "SIC."
Oh, and
Breaksk8 is competing on America's Got Talent. I saw them on it last night. They made it through the auditions and went on to Las Vegas but they have to battle against two other dance crews tonight to see which dance crew is going to go on to the next round in Hollywood. However Piers has already expressed his prejudice against the skaters. He stated that he liked their act or dancing with the exception of the skates. Hello, their name is Breaksk8 not Break. Duh. I hope they make it through to the next round. I'm sure they will if the judges leave any prejudice out of it. They are very experienced at doing battles against other skate and dance crews and have gone up against the best and won before. Either way the upside is that America's Got Talent is a huge show with a large audience so it is giving our sport a lot more exposure in front of the general public.
Their is a video up on JSO
(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) from the Today Show on a burger franchise called Sonic Drive-In that serves burgers the old fashioned way...on Rollerskates. A friend of mine that is also a jamskater works for the company setting up Sonic Drive-In's all over the country. I would definitely love to see these 50's era burger places come back.
