MIRAKEL - video clip from a wonderful Danish movie

I made this clip and posted it at You Tube. I love this movie and wish more people would see it. It's warm and funny and a lot of fun. Sure, it's a story that's been done before but it's still enjoyable. I call this a fantasy-comedy-musical-love story-coming of age movie.

Here's a synopsis from IMDb:
" Twelve-year-old boy Dennis P lives in Copenhagen with his mother. Since the death of his father, his mother has been both depressed and overprotective. At school he struggles to cope with a mean and obsessive teacher, and the girl he likes seems to be more interested in his best friend than him. One day he walks into a church and, expecting little effect, exclaims his wishes of better luck at home and at school. Miraculously, an angel who looks a lot like Dennis' father appears and presents him the gift of a pair of angel wings. From then on, Dennis can literally get anything he points at, changing the behaviour of other people as he sees fit. It's the experience of a lifetime, but can it last? Written by Peter Brandt Nielsen"

Thanks for the clip, but I've got the movie, and it is one that I watch more frequently than most. The whole movie is a lot of fun and has a couple of very appealing young actors. Highly recommended for feel good viewing.

We did a discussion a long while back about our favorite songs in movies.

That song was one of my picks!  Tongue

That number had to be a lot of fun to film.

I agree.  Smiley It's now my official favorite movie song. Thanks for turning me on to this movie. I might have never heard of it otherwise. Has it ever been shown on American TV?

You know, that's one of the things that sold me on this musical number. Not only is it well staged, well written, well performed and hilarious, but the teacher, Peter Frödin, was very impressive with his singing and dance moves. I checked out his credits on IMDb and it appears that he really is a singer and has appeared on many Danish TV variety shows. Of course he has made many acting roles in movies and TV series too.

Plus, did you notice those beautiful blond dancer boys? Every one, tall, blond and gorgeous, plus awesome dancers. Stunning. One in particular, I can't take my eyes off him.  Tongue

This is slightly off topic, but it features Peter Frödin, the man who played Dennis' teacher in the video clip I posted.
In Mirakel, Peter showed that he is a very good singer and that got me to wondering if he has done any other songs. It turns out he is a popular singer and actor in Denmark, and he also occasionally sings in English. I found this song, 'Blue Christmas' (not the Elvis version) and I'm not only impressed by what a good singer he is but also it turns out that he is gay.
  Cool

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It's a nice song.
I will never think of walnuts quite the same way again, though

You're welcome and to my knowledge, Mirakel has only been shown in a few film festivals in the US years ago. One of the reasons would be because of the scene that follows this one in the movie. Another is that the movie doesn't have an American target audience. It is too earthy for children and too silly for most adults.

It is definitely not a movie for all tastes. I would figure this movie to be a little too weird for you. If you could bring yourself to embrace the goofiness, it's really not that bad. Stefan Pagels Andersen is also a favorite of mine and his presence makes me like this film more than I might if someone else played Dennis P.

I enjoyed it very much. It's not the best movie of all time, but it doesn't have to be. Even though the story line has been done before (numerous times) I still found it to be funny and warm. Stefan, Peter and Sebastian Jessen as Mick are what make the movie, for me. Perhaps I'm not as judgemental as some viewers.
