Should there maybe be some rules regarding custom avatar pictures?

This is a site about boy ACTORS, not just pictures of random boys. There are plenty of sites devoted to that on the internet.

I think some of the recent pics in people's avatars are really pushing the limit.

Ok... true.  I can see that. 

For the record, I think that in addition to photos of actors, photos of self (even an earlier self) might be allowable (like phenom was doing)... and besides, such photos are not likely to be very risque. 

But random photos of boys should probably be discouraged, especially if the boys are half dressed or less... even if the boys are from a "movie" of sorts ... some movies don't really qualify for this site (and for a good reason).

Yeah, well, I'm not trying to be a prude or a censor. I just think for the safety of the site and the community (as thin as it may be these days), a line has to be drawn somewhere.

If you have clear rules in place, it will be easier to deal with cases that break those rules. (And really, I don't think you'd be doing anybody a service by allowing cropped CP to be posted here.)

As you've probably seen, I've taken an executive decision, and removed the particular avatar that's sparked this.
I was a bit undecided about it - although I was a bit uncomfortable about it - however given that others also have concerns, that has made up my mind.

Essentially the rules for avatars are:
a boy how has appeared in movies/tv/theatre (and I suppose singers are acceptable as well)
a picture of yourself from your youth (or even not from your youth)
something completely abstract and unrelated to boy actors (although I guess those will tend to be the standard avatars installed with the forum)

A picture of a person needs to be "decent" - for which a good starting point is that they need to be wearing at least shorts or swimming costume.

My sentiment exactly. I was sorry to see the avatar in question removed but was expecting it and agree with its removal.
