This Mexican film, 'La Mugrosita', (members who know their Spanish can doubtless fill me in as to what that title means) made in 1980 is not listed and neither is the boy actor/singer, Pedrito Fernandez. The DVD I have has no subtitles so I have had to try and interpret the plot from the Spanish lingo. Pedrito, who plays Andres seems to be living with his grandfather (I presume!) in a scrapyard in an old railway goods van! This van is big! It is literally a house on one floor with spacious interior, beds and even a cooker! Andres leads this gang of boys against another gang who all end up throwing tomatoes, having a boxing match and a tug-of-war over a muddy river. He has a girlfriend called Maria (Maria Rebeca) to whom he will burst into song every now and then in typical Mexican style music which adds to the film's quaintness. Anyway, for exact reasons I cannot fathom, young Andres has to leave his granddad and go and live with this rich old man who seems to run some sort of tourists hotel. There is lots of tears and pulling of the heartstrings before Andres is finally reunited with his granddad and his friends.
I found the film enjoyable to watch despite lack of subtitles and, after all, there aren't that many boy films that come from down Mexico way.
I am pretty positive someone will have heard of this film.
