Hey, 'K', what's so 'appalling' about sticking a boy actor on a pedestal and idolising him?
His Great and Illustrious Highness, Jeremy Sumpter, is a veritable Prince of Boy Actors. None can match him for his princely looks and his fine acting abilities. You have only to peruse films like 'Local Boys', 'Frailty' or 'Peter Pan' in which he shone so handsomely. Even Sean Keenan must kneel before him. Hail Prince Jeremy! Wink
I never knew the age of consent in Austria was 14. Is it really? Interesting ... Smiley

It was 14 for male-female relationships for quite some time, but 18 for same sex relationships until our Supreme Court did away with this paragraph in 2002. The reason was that if both partners were under 18 there were certain possibilities for them to have a "legal" relationship (depending on the age gap), but once one partner reached the age of 18 the relationship would become "illegal", which the court judged to be an undue discrimination not justified by any reasonable explanation.

So since 2002 its 14 for all sexual relationships. However if you're between 14 and 16 and not able to comprehend the sexual act for some reason it's still illegal (for good reason).

The UK DVD release of Lockie Leonard has been given a 12 certificate (meaning it is unlawful for the DVD to be sold to anyone under the age of 12...). Whilst I'm not particularly surprised by this classification, I do wonder whether there will be a market for the series in the over-12s... I suspect the series is really aimed at a slightly younger market (with 12 being towards the upper age limit).
The Australian DVD release is of course rated PG.

I'm curious now: Can you explain to me why the British government brands Lockie Leonard, a kid's show aimed at the pre teen audience, as not suitable for the very audience it was intended for? (And I thought America was often needlessly overprotective!) This seems ridiculous to me. I don't see anything in the original Lockie series that is harmful to 12 and unders. Nanny State is alive and well!

Strictly speaking it's not the British government - the BBFC are supposedly independent. They do have to interpret the law though...
As for why it's been given a 12, my guess would be the sex and wet dream references.

Okay, so we should all have our DVD copies of 'Lockie Leonard - Series One' by now. It was available at Play.com from 19th July where I obtained mine.
I think it is a pretty good series overall. Very engaging and very funny most of the time. Sean Keenan is charming as mixed up Lockie who is always going to get things done until girl friend Vicki (Gracie Gilbert) turns up. We could have done without her but, then, I guess there has to be a girl around somewhere. As good looking as Sean was, he had some competition among those other boy actors playing his schoolmates!
LL kept up a good standard with Corey McKernan as Phillip providing a cute, if somewhat crazy, younger brother. Their relationship was put over quite effectively with the right amount of brotherly rivalry and affection. I even liked the Aborigine (or part Aborigine) boy, Egg, played by Clarence Ryan if only he had got some of that ridiculous clobber off!
The set of DVDs could have points knocked off for only having a 'Goof Reel' and no interviews with Sean or Corey. There wasn't even anything from the directors or info on how the boys were cast for their parts. These are the things I always like to know.
Nicely photographed and showing the south coast of Australia off to perfection, I just wonder if the second series will be as good.
