I've just added a set of English subtitles for Menino Maluquinho...

Was sure I posted the English subs for this on one of the subtitle sites years ago.

The subtitles largely originate from an Australian TV airing - but I did use the Portuguese subtitles on the Brazilian DVD to add to these and fill in some of the gaps.

That would be SBS TV in Australia.

They show a lot of foreign language movies, unfortunately the family and kid stuff such as Nutty Boy, and many others of that ilk are bypassed these days for more adult drama or cultish martial arts movies.

Cant beat SBS for subtitles. I was lucky to record Nutty Boy last time it aired here in 2000, hard to believe its been 10 years already and Samuel Costa is actually a director himself now.

But anyway the DVD quality although probably the best possible version available is disappointing, so too is the fact that it didn't have English subs to begin with but it would have been a bad job anyway knowing Brazil so I would have had to resort to the VHS copy anyway. This isn't the first Brazilian DVD I got that wasn't up to scratch "Os Três Zuretas" for example was easily below VHS standards. However I think the extras on the "Menino Maluquinho" disc make up for the shortcomings but still hoping for a very improbable bluray version Smiley

I believe the Brazilian DVD for the sequel does include English subtitles - but I haven't managed to find a copy of it. It appears to be out of print.

Odd that they would go to the trouble of doing English subtitles for the sequel but not for the more successful first movie.
