The birthday service of BoyActors reminds us of Bill Switzer's birthday, March 28. We wish him many happy returns.
However, I'd like to commemorate his namesake, Carl Switzer, who was born on August 7, 1927.
Carl of course was known for his appearance as Alfalfa in Our Gang.
He met his untimely death on January 21, 1959 when he was shot over a disagreement about a dog and/or a trifle amount of money.
It all seems so long ago, but I am sure that Carl will never be forgotten.
May he rest in peace.

Not forgotten, and I doubt if he ever will be, his place in cinema history is assured, though I'd certainly forgotten about his violent death  Sad

Not forgotten by me. I just saw him last week in the film Too Many Parents doing (dare I say it) a musical number.

My Dad and Carl were roughly the same age, My Dad told me that on the set of the Our Gang series Carl used to pull some very harsh and sometimes very dangerous practical jokes, which ended up getting people hurt.  I asked my Dad about the circumstances around the death of Carl Switzer, He said he thought it might of had a lot to do with Carl's personality, John Wayne worked with Carl on a movie once, and commented that Carl's attitude and personality could get him killed someday.

My favorite episode was "The He-Man, Women Haters Club" which is what the updated movie was based on!
