Hella Haasse died last Friday, 93 years old. She was a prominent author with an extensive oeuvre. One of her earliest works is Oeroeg. The novel is about the friendship between two boys: Johan, the son of a wealthy landowner in the Dutch East Indies and Oeroeg, an indigenous boy. The book was worth reading and the movie certainly is worth watching.
Johan is played by Rik Launspach and Martin Schwab plays the title role.

Rik Launspach is currently involved in a brawl about a book he published. The ins and outs don't interest me very much, but I think it is interesting enough to let you know. An unknown boy actor and his career. Very intriguing! I might do some research on the matter.

A little later:

Having said all that, I have to admit a few errors.
The young actors were (and this time I hope I am correct):
Johan played by Joris Putman
Oeroeg played by Ramelan Bekkeman

The names I provided before were those of the adult actors in 1946 and later.

I hope I didn't cause too much confusion!
