Kelly Reno, born (June 19, 1966) to cattle ranchers inPueblo, Colorado is a former juvenile actor who was cast in the role of Alec Ramsey, the young boy who is marooned on a deserted island along with a horse, in The Black Stallion (based on the novel by Walter Farley) at age 13.
Reno also appeared in the 1983 film adaptation of The Black Stallion Returns, alongside Vincent Spano. His acting career was cut short when the pick-up truck he was driving was hit by a semi-truck. He had severe injuries and the long recovery time put an end to his acting career.

Mini Biography
The son of cattle ranchers Bud and Ruth, Reno had been riding horses since he could walk. This experience qualified him for his role in The Black Stallion (1979), which he tried out for when his mother learned of the open audition. Both of his parents accompanied him to the filming location, and enjoyed the experience, but it was also disruptive to the family life. Kelly only appeared in three films before high school graduation in 1984. After graduation, he planned on acting more, and acquired a new agent. His plans were put on hold when his pickup truck was hit by an 18-wheeler and he suffered severe injuries. After a long recovery period he had lost most of his film connections. Reno is now a certified truck driver, and drives an 18-wheeler like the one that ended his acting career. He has three children from his first marriage.

PUEBLO, Colo. — Kelly Reno, 18, who played the boy marooned with a beautiful horse in the 1979 film, "The Black Stallion," suffered a broken leg and possible internal injuries in a car accident early Monday, a spokeswoman for St. Mary Corwin Hospital said.
Reno, of Pueblo, was involved in an auto accident, along with 15-year-old Lynette Tuttle of Pueblo, said hospital Nursing Supervisor Cherry Trimble.
Reno's mother, Ruth Reno, told the Colorado State Patrol that her son said he was driving at the time of the accident.
Trimble said Reno, who is listed in serious condition, suffered a collapsed lung and possible kidney injuries in addition to the broken leg. Tuttle is being treated for a broken ankle, abrasions and contusions, Trimble said.
Patrolman Al Hecht of the patrol said a preliminary investigation shows that Reno's pickup truck was northbound in the right-hand lane on Interstate 25, attempting to pass two semi trucks in the left northbound lane, when the accident occurred.
Tire marks indicate that Reno's truck veered to the left, colliding with the front semi truck, Hecht said.
"He lost control, skidded into the median, rolled 2 1/2 times and both occupants in the truck were thrown out," Hecht said.
Reno's truck ended up in the southbound lane of the highway, resting on its top, Hecht said. No specific cause has been determined for the accident.
