Skazka o zvezdnom malchike (1983) is the only film listed under USSR.
What is the reason for having this category?
Wouldn't 'Soviet Union' be a suitable distinction?

or maybe now, the various "states" again... which are countries again... so maybe we could put that movie in the "state/country" it was made rather than the USSR.

No, I don't think that would be correct. The USSR 'disintegrated' in 1991. From that date on we distinguished the CIS (or GOS, as the Europeans called it) and the remains of the USSR, referred to as Russia. Films issued before that date will have to be attributed to the Soviet Union (or the USSR, which is the same). I just wanted to point out that it is illogical to have both names in the database.

oh ok.  I didn't realize you meant that there were many listed under "Soviet Union" as opposed to "USSR."  Indeed, it makes no sense to have both categories; it's like having both "USA" and "United States" ...

Speaking of which: The official name "United States of Mexico" will soon be abolished and replaced by simply "Mexico". Hurray  Smiley

I like plain old "Mexico" better, even if "Ustados Unidos de Mexico" is more accurate. Smiley

When I went to Mexico last year, I was SURPRISED that the official name was "United States of Mexico" mostly because it was so "similar" to us, and we haven't exactly been "friends" throughout history.

at least they are not thinking of "the Democratic Republic of Mexico" or something xD
