Just saw the film Dark Skies (2013) tonight    Shocked

The movie was great!  Jumped out of my seat several times during the movie!     Shocked

Dakota Goyo was excellent and I was really impressed with newcomer Kadan Rockett.  He was excellent too!   Cheesy

Can't wait to get the Blu-Ray and add some good screen caps

Dark Skies (2013)

Plot Summary:  Jesse and his little brother Sam (Dakota Goyo and Kadan Rockett) have a wonderful family life in suburbia until strange things start happening, unexplainable things, scary things.  They try to make sense of it all before it's too late.

Tagline: “Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.”
― Arthur C. Clarke

Just watched Dark Skies (2013) again tonight.

Slow moving plot, but still scary.

Dakota Goyo and Kadan Rockett are excellent!

An amazingly good film that had a budget of only $3.5M

Distributed by our friends at Dimension Films

I recently purchased the DVD of 'Dark Skies'. The film certainly kept you on your toes and made you jump but horror is never an easy subject to present to an audience.
We can't all make classics like 'Psycho' and 'Alien' and this film is no classic. While the neighbours were portrayed as prejudiced morons, none of them enquired as to why the birds only struck the Barrett's house. The family never invited any of the doubting neighbours into their house to witness the apparitions nor did the neighbours apparently see any of the bright lights when the 'aliens' were attempting to gain entry into the Barrett's household.
Horror always comes across better when it takes place in some remote area or house. Experiencing horror in an urban street, as the Barretts did, loses its edge once you know other people are living only a stone's throw away.
'Dark Skies' reminded me of the film 'The Forgotten', which I thought was better, with aliens trying to abduct children. Dakota Goyo looked great and his acting was commended by one critic though little Kadan Rockett (if that's his real name then I'm a rocket!) I thought played an equally good part.
The aliens were ridiculous, as they usually are in movies when, despite being of a higher intelligence, they apparently lacked any moralistic or enlightened attitudes towards another species. Their saving grace was in abducting Dakota Goyo which showed they at least had good taste.

I love this kind of "Horror" flick! I'm glad to see that Hollywood is starting to  turn the corner and get back to a few basics, This movie literally made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! and it was done without ANY blood or gore! a plus in my book! and two gorgeous boys to watch! an even bigger plus!
