Smiley I saw this very moving movie this afternoon. Ricky SCHRODER is very moving and has a very good play in part of T.J. My movie rating is 8/10 !

1931 movie, Wallace Beery and Jackie Cooper actually didn't like each other!
Wallace didn't like kids, I found this out just recently, and now I don't like him! back in the day, adult actors and some Directors were quite mean to child actors, Jackie was in a movie where the scene called him to cry, but couldn't produce the tears, so the Director and an Assistant came up with a sceme to get those tears from Jackie! they did a "FAKE" dog killing, with a Prop- Gun, the Assistant took Jackie's beloved dog behind a fence, in Jackie's presence, and fired the gun (loaded with blanks), which worked because Jackie started crying profusely! A few years before Jackie Cooper died. he noted that this event effected him for life! I have seen that movie but I don't remember the name.  Thankfully Directors have long since found more suttle ways of getting those tears!
