No his dad is L.M. Kit Carson who wrote the screenplay for Paris, Texas for Wim Wenders.

Ok my mistake, it's been years since I last saw Strange Invaders, and my memory isn't what it used to be! Also I was mistaken on the title of the movie, it is Invaders From Mars, not Strange Invaders, and his Mom is Karen Black who costarred as the Teacher.
