I really enjoyed Justin McGuire as 'The Kid'.  What an interesting and intriguing film. I loved it!

Excellent music sound track.

One of the best car chases ever!  The Kid and Buddy (the Six-String Samurai) are driving in a
convertible being chased by the bad guys in a truck fitted with a catapult mechanism.
The bad guys begin lobbing gum balls at them.  The Kid and Buddy promptly begin chewing gum and blowing bubbles.

When the bad guys realize their plan didn't work, they get out of the truck and run up to the
convertible where Buddy and The Kid fight them off.  That's right.  The car chase is going all of about five miles per hour.

It was great!

Highly Recommended!

That' right!  In the third picture down, our hero is taking a swig of beer.

I love this film. I actually saw it as a midnight showing in a cinema when it was in its first run.  I have the DVD, and re-watch it every year or two.

A really, really low budget film.  They used a "hit and run" method for filming in the desert, since they  didn't have the appropriate permits.  Mostly the cast and crew just camped out in their cars overnight ... but (because of child actor regulations) they had to rent a motel room for Justin and his parents.

some quotes

What's a beach?

.

If I were you, I'd run.
If you were me, you'd be good lookin'.

ALSO: don't miss the music video on the DVD.

lyrics

GROOVING TO THE MOSCOW BEAT
Red Elvises Homepage

Boogie on the Beach
(Igor)

Last night Jesus called me on the phone,
I was surprised,
This morning he called again,
And he said:
Why don't we do some Boogie-Voogie,
Boogie-Voogie on the beach...

Last night I dreamt of you,
You looked so good in that red dress,
And those blue suede shoes,
Why don't we do some Boogie-Voogie....

My Love is Killing Me
(Igor)

She loves me too much, when she kisses my ear,
My eardrums pop, it's so painful my dear,
We were making love, she didn't mean any harm,
It became a wicked game when she broke my arm.

Oo-a-oo, my love is killing me...
Oo-a-oo, my love is killing me...

I can forgive you the damage to my lips, I can forgive you the bite marks on my hips,
But there is only one thing I can't stand, Don't call me Chris, my name is Elvis.
I can forgive you the bruises and cuts, I can forgive you the scars on my nuts,
But there is only one thing I can't stand, Don't call me Chris, my name is Elvis.

Paying hospital bills, I can't take any more, Do you know how it feels, I'm scared of her.
She loves me too much, when she kisses my ear, It sounds crappity smackin' loud, that's why I can't hear,

Oo-a-oo, my love is killing me... <6 times>

Scorchi Chorniye
(Igor and Zhenya)

Let's take the Greyhound bus to California,
All that fancy food will make us hornier,
Dancing through the night driving us insane,
Waltzing in a pool filled up with Champagne.

If you feeling blue, I'll paint the town red,
I will serenade you standing on my head,
Wild and crazy like Tyrannosaurus Rex,
You and me will have never-ending sex.

Ochi Chorniye, my sweet chorniye,
I am going to California....

Siberia
(Igor)

Take me to the land of frozen tunes,
Hockey teams and violins and mysterious dreams,
Take me to the land of cosmonauts where man take vodka shots,
And woman are free.

Siberia land of cottage cheese and happy smiles,
Siberia land of broken bones and solid skies.

With you I would be happy living there,
Raising cows and children, watching no TV,
Show me what our life suppose to be,
Working for collective farms getting jeans for free.

Siberia land of cottage cheese and solid skies,
Siberia land of broken bones and happy smiles.

Siberia land of cottage cheese and happy smiles,
Siberia land of broken bones and solid skies.

Siberia land of cottage cheese and giant trees,
Siberia land of rolling stones, free love and peace.

AXN: Slick Six String Samurai Movie Review

Movie Goers!

Suspend your disbelief, twist your mind a little, and get ready to feast
on visual splendour of the Death Valley. Written by Lance Mungia and
Jeffrey Falcon (who is the titular star in the film), SIX STRING SAMURAI
is a rock-and-roll post-apocalyptic adventure. The King is dead.
Sword-and-guitar wannabes are fighting to get to Las Vegas to take Elvis’
place, but not without fighting Death himself and his band. The true
Six-String Samurai is Buddy (Falcon) who sets out to claim the throne.
And tailing along is the Kid (Justin McGuire) who only makes unintelligible
sounds.

Misfits and mutants are strewn across the land through which Buddy
journeys. The characters are nothing short of wacky and the dialogue is of
cliched brilliance. There are lots of sword-fighting scenes, gong-fu moves a
la Hong Kong flicks and kicks where timing and choreography make it such
pleasure to watch. Watch out for numerous reference to and parodies of films
which upon identification will only double your pleasure.

The whole film is shot beautifully with glorious landscapes and intriguing
film angles. It’s funny without being base, intelligent without being
snobbish. And if you just don’t get it at all, Flutter away, butterfly.
Just flutter away.
