'bowser': Malcolm McRae, a one off, in only one film, a boy actor of his stunning looks? I refuse to believe it!   Shocked Wink

I have this film somewhere.  If I can locate it, we'll screen it tonight!

Thanks!

This one was an easy pick.  And just by chance, he is listed as actor reference number #1 in our entire database, easy to see why!   He appeared in two short films, but this was his only feature-length film.

edit:  Just noticed that with 15 reviews of this film on our site, this movie is rated at 9.47 out of 10.  As good as Miles was in this film, William Hurt was impressive too.

Agreed, nicolas, very much so. A powerful performance by both. I love the film, but, like Lamb, Goodnight Mister Tom, Empire of the Sun, Stand by Me or The Road, I can only watch it after a sufficiently long break, as it is so emotionally charged.
It was also the second movie to be added to the database Smiley

love,
Bijou

A handsome actor like David Eberts should have made lots and lots of boy films for us BA members to ogle at. I noted that David got the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival for 1989. The 'mysterious baron' should've had his eyes tested spurning beautiful Master Eberts. Have to say I had never heard of the film.   Roll Eyes

Thanks, 'nightwatcher'.

I loved Burning Secret too. My all-time favourite one-hit wonder has to be eleven-year-old Ovidiu Balan of Mondo. I read on YouTube that at about fifteen he appeared briefly in another of Tony Gatlif's films but I haven't been able to find out what film.

If I'm not mistaken, Ben Silverstone went on to star in the gay teen drama Get Real, and Nikolai Burlyayev appeared as an apprentice bellmaker in a scene at the end of Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev. Both were out of boy actor age-range by that time: about eighteen and sixteen, respectively.

Mondo (1995) is one of my favorite films too!

Ovidiu Balan did play in The Crazy Stranger (1997), I haven't
been able to find a copy of this film either.

He played in Clandestins (1997), which was a pretty
good film.  A very claustrophobic film about a group of people
stowing away in a cargo container as they flee France to make
a better life in Canada.

Worth a look!

Thank you, bowser! Clandestins sounds like the sort of movie I'd be interested in. I'll look out for it.

Another one off was David Arnott in 'Criss Cross'. Though David would get no nomination for acting ability, he did show how great a boy can look in cut off jeans.

I've seen in recent years a David Arnott in ending credits in a few movies, that might be the same person, he surely wouldn't be the first to go off camera after adulthood!
maybe our resident SUPER hero Captain Bowser can confirm for us!? Wink
