I know that Asa is now a BA "alum," but I still watch any movie he's in.

Asa Butterfield was fine but this film relied far too much on special effects and sheer weirdness. It could have been an interesting plot but it was wasted here. Also Ransom Riggs, the author, seemed to appear in quite a lot of the DVD extras probably because he never guessed his mediocre story would be made into a film. One for the boy actors shelf? Give it a miss.
