5000 movies!!!  Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley

(...and, being a devotee of Frankie Darro, I decided to make the 5000th movie a Frankie Darro film.)

Well, that will certainly be a challenge...

I notice that the list of TV Shows by Rating has the Czech series "Bylo nás pet" (1994) as the highest rated TV show in the database, with 9.14 out of 10, on the basis of 7 reviews. I think I agree with this, i.e. I can't (at least offhand) think of a more agreeable TV series; and it's hard to think of a more agreeable actor than Adam Novák.

He went on to become an artist and set designer. Here he is in front of one of his paintings:

As well as adding "The Forest" (2016) to the database - many thanks to hosenhaus for the excellent suggestion - I have also added a page for the Czech TV series "Ranc U Zelené sedmy" (1998-2005), which was absurdly popular in its native Czechia.

I have added some links to YouTube clips to the page for "It Couldn't Happen Here" (blu-ray from the BFI out shortly!), so you can see Barbara Windsor having a plate of greasy breakfast thrown on her, amongst other things. The film is a meditation on time, or some such thing... Anyway, I think it's interesting even if you don't happen to be a devotee of the Pet Shop Boys (though, as it happens, I am).

I've polished up the page for "Mino", the 1986 Italian miniseries, and added English subtitle files for the German DVD release - so if you have the German DVD but don't speak German then you can now enjoy the series. I would very much recommend it.

Brothers Nicholas and Jonathan Haley have a minor role in "It Couldn't Happen Here" as the Pet Shop Boys' younger selves. (Caps below from trailer.)

Added the 'Christian' movie "The Current".... yes, I know it sounds godawful, and from the trailer the acting is a bit ropey, but it can't be all bad with scenes like the ones below, can it?.... What is it with American Christian movies and barely suppressed homoeroticism? (Answers on a postcard...)  Smiley

I'm not CPR trained, but I didn't realize you're supposed to compress on the nipples and pelvis.

After having made a page for a Christian movie, I felt the need to cleanse myself - so I've added a page for the excellent short film "Onán" (2002) - a link to the movie (with English subtitles) is on the Profile page.

Yes, though unfortunately (as with Vimeo) with a stretched aspect ratio:

Apologies for lack of additions to the database over the last couple of weeks - I've been a little busy with other things. Hope to remedy the situation as soon as possible. In the meantime, here's a rather superb Italian poster for "La guerre des boutons" (1962):

(Still busy, by the way, and probably will remain so throughout this weekend and at least the first part of next week, I'm afraid, so the database will have to wait... Of course, if any of the other administrators want to take over for a while... Smiley...)
