I was curious about these photos, since Lynen wasn't in any Les Mis, so far as I knew.
Vie et Mort de Poil de Carotte (Lynen's biography) says that Lynen was tested by director Raymond Bernard for the latter's 1934 adaptation of Hugo's novel, but in the end Bernard preferred Emile Genevois as Gavroche, because he thought his face fitted the part better! (

In fact, Bernard also auditioned Sacha Tarride and Jean Mercanton for the role. You can see in the photos below that Lynen and Mercanton are wearing the same outfit, and Tarride and Genevois are wearing the same shirt:
