The Greatest Boy Movie Ever?

If you look at the movies in the database by rating, you'll find that the highest rated movie is "La Gloire de mon père" (1990) with an average of 9.71/10. Now, I was thinking about this recently, and I was thinking that it is actually right that this movie should be the highest rated on this site. That is, I'm going to stick my neck out and say that "La Gloire de mon père" is, in my opinion, The Greatest 'Boy Movie' of All Time. (Not simply, or even necessarily, my personal favourite, but the best in some objective sense, if that makes any sense...)

Agree? Disagree? If you disagree, what would you nominate for the Greatest 'Boy Movie' Ever?

I have heard of 'La Gloire de mon pere' but never seen the film. The two boy leads look good.
My nominated films for pure acting ability worthy of a BA Oscar would be 'Les Amities Particulere' with the wonderful Didier Haudepin and 'Motorama' starring Jordan Christopher Michael.

Other entries for the "pantheon" would perhaps include Kes, Ivan's Childhood, Captain's Courageous. My nominee would be Second Best. I noticed 3 of the top 4 per the database sorting are French (other one is USSR). The French really do make the best movies after all? I love many French films, though my personal favorites tend to come from Britain.

Got to go with nightwatcher's choice of 'Captains Courageous' with the great Freddie Bartholomew. He acted his heart out in that film yet they gave the Oscar to Spencer Tracy. What an act of cinematic injustice.   Cry
