Mondo (1995)

I've watched this movie for the first time and I was struck. Ovidiu Balan's easy smile, Mondo's shy confidence, his curiosity and appreciation of everything he has, it was all so captivating to me. I'm seldom driven to tears but the forces working against his childish freedom, his nomadic nature and his unconvential friendships got me feeling anything from plain angry to absolutely devastated.

The movie Gadjo Dilo (1997) by the same director (Tony Gatlif) is set in Romania.  But Ovidiu Balan is there, 2 or 3 years older..

One of my favorite movies of all time!

A beautifully shot film.  i remember when Mondo was
having tea with Thi Chin (played by Pierrette Fesch).  The composition, the
color, and the lighting was stunning!

I must admit tearing up during the film.  It was a great movie!

Highly Recommended!
