Another version of the classic Pinocchio this time starring 10 year old Federico Ielapi and directed by Matteo Garrone.
This film is supposed to stick to Carlo Collidi's original story warts and all.

Matteo Garrone is an interesting director. Glad this story is getting a more authentic film treatment. Federico Ielapi definitely has the Italian look Smiley

... which makes it very slow-moving and rather dull ...

This film has been nominated for two Academy Awards: Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling.

Another (!) Pinocchio movie is set to be released this year, directed by Guillermo del Toro, but it's stop-motion and set in Fascist Italy. Gregory Mann is the child actor voicing the title role. Can't find any pictures of him.
