Karaoke kid has sights set on £5,000
Paul Taylor
TALENTED: Trevor Hodgson
BLOND, bespectacled Trevor Hodgson is used to being compared with Macaulay Culkin or the Milky Bar Kid. But why should he care when he has a singing voice sweeter than chocolate?
Trevor stepped on stage at the Willows Variety Centre, Salford, for heat three of the Manchester Evening News Search for a Star competition looking even younger than his 15 years.
Which is why the judges were astounded by the big, smooth voice he mustered as he treated the crowd to Amazed, an uptempo version of Sometimes When We Touch and If Tomorrow Never Comes.
Competition
He goes forward to a grand final on November 16. The first prize is £5,000.
Trevor, from Kirkholt, Rochdale, said: "I started singing when I was about six. I got a karaoke machine from my grandma.
I started singing in public in 1997 when we went to Majorca. There was a competition in the hotel. I came first and got a medal."
He has appeared on the ITV children's show Copycat Kids. Runner-up in the heat was Bury-born Vicky Ekonoye, 21, who lives in London.
